Set In Motion

the Pattern

  • Rated 2 out of 5 on the scale of Beginner to Intermediate. The pattern is beginner friendly but requires some organization.

  • Rated 2 out of 5 on the scale of Hours to Days. I use strip piecing methods and batch sewing to efficiently piece the blocks.

  • Generous yardage amounts are given, there is enough to make a scrappy binding for the quilt.

  • Sub block and Blocks are clearly labeled and shown in the pattern. The pattern opens with a chart of the blocks you are making and how many you need to make.

  • Easy to follow cutting and piecing instructions for both pattern sizes.

  • Pressing directions are shown for each step.

  • Blank colouring pages are included in both quilt sizes so you can create your own unique look.

The Story

Set in Motion is about a big event that created some waves into my quilting future. In the summer of 2024, I filmed a design-a-long video series that I released on YouTube over eight weeks. While the video series didn’t get the response I was hoping for, I did learn a lot from the experience.

At the time, I had no idea what was in store for my future. Now I am in a unique position to look past and see what the design-a-long started and look into the future knowing where some of my quilting journey is headed. The future is a very exciting place and this quilt will always be special to me for what it started.

As you are making this quilt, I invite you to reflect on your own “Set In Motion” events and the future events you are hoping for yourself and the quilt recipient. I would love to hear your stories and see pictures of your quilt. You can share them privately or they can be featured on my website or a future email newsletter.
